How to Clean Blinds: Expert Tips
Proper cleaning is essential for maintaining the beauty and functionality of your blinds. Follow our detailed cleaning instructions for various types of blinds to keep them looking fresh and pristine for years to come.

1. Roller Blinds:
-
Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment or a soft cloth to gently remove dust from the surface of the roller blinds.
-
Spot Cleaning: For stubborn stains, spot clean with a mild detergent solution and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
-
Drying: Allow the blinds to air dry completely before rolling them back up.
-
Also don't forget to clean any bugs that may have gotten caught in the fabric of the blind. Bugs can cause the blinds to run crooked which can cause the fabric to fray.
2. Venetian Blinds:
-
Dust Removal: Dust venetian blinds regularly with a feather duster, microfibre cloth, or vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment at low suction.
-
Deep Cleaning: For thorough cleaning, wipe each slat with a slightly damp cloth or sponge. Be careful not to soak the blinds, as excessive moisture can damage the material.
-
Drying: Wipe the blinds dry with a clean, dry cloth or allow them to air dry completely before adjusting or closing them.
3. Roman Blinds:

5. Curtains:
-
Dust Removal: Vacuum curtains regularly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris.
-
Professional Clean: We only recommend you use a professional curtain cleaning company to deep clean your curtains. Trying to clean your curtains yourself can lead to excessive shrinkage or damaging your fabric.
6. Canvas Awnings:
-
Dust Removal: Use a soft brush or broom to gently sweep away dirt and debris from the surface of the canvas awnings.
-
Remove any bird or animal droppings on your canvas. Leaving it on will degrade your cloth.
-
Spot Cleaning: Spot clean stains with plain water or a mild velvet soap solution and a soft brush or sponge. Avoid scrubbing too vigorously, as it can damage the canvas material.
-
Hose down your awnings with clean water and allow the awnings to air dry completely before retracting them to prevent mould and mildew growth.
-
Do not leave your awnings partially out for long periods of time. This will cause the exposed cloth to build up dirt, mould and mildew over time as well as cause uneven fading on the cloth.
7. Folding Arm Awnings:
-
Dust Removal: Use a soft brush or broom to gently sweep away dirt and debris from the surface of the folding arm awnings.
